INTRODUCTION TO PTFE AND TEFLON PROPERTIES AND QUALITY

Quality of ptfe felis

FELIS SRL’s PTFE is ISO9001 certified, as well as having all certificates on the product and raw material. Strict controls are carried out in the production process, which take place with repeated laboratory tests both inside and outside the company.

Certifications (ISO-FDA- ROHS- CONFORMITY- SECURITY- WRC- SGS, etc.) are available upon customer’s request.

Properties of ptfe

PTFE has extraordinary performance at very low cost. It is usually used when the requirements cannot be met by other technopolymers. For example, in chemically aggressive environments, or in the presence of high temperatures.

It is a unique material, has a low coefficient of friction, high resistance to external agents, an excellent degree of non-adhesiveness, and resistance to high or low temperatures.

Thermal properties: PTFE has a low coefficient of thermal transmission and is therefore considered a thermal insulator. It is not flammable and manages to be stable at temperatures up to 260”C, for long times.

Chemical properties: PTFE is inert to chemical reagents.  Just be attacked by certain elemental alkali, metals and by fluorine.
PTFE is insoluble in any solvent at temperatures up to 300°C.
It´s suitable for contact with food, it has excellent resistance, even in the presence of UV rays, it´s not flammable and it´s totally water repellent.

Mechanical properties: The mechanical properties of PTFE are non-adhesion, and low coefficient of friction with quite high loads. The elongation at break is over 100% and the shrinkage after machining is high.

Electrical properties: PTFE has excellent dielectric qualities over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. Since water absorption is practically nil, the characteristics remain unaltered even after prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents. Dielectric strength is virtually unaffected by operating temperature.
